WILLICKSEN CEMETERY
Section 16 Norway Township

The Ole Willicksen Cemetery is located 1/2 mile east of Thor in section 16, Norway Township. It was by Ole W.Willicksen that the first land was broken in 1869 and the first grain sown in 1870. It was three acres of this land that O. W. Willicksen gave to Thor for a cemetery. Ole and his wife, Martha (Oleson) were the parents of five children--Wilhelmina I. (Minnie), Enger C., Jennie, William W., Alena G., and Adolph O. Ole and Martha were buried here and in 1925 were moved to Union Cemetery in Humboldt.
It has been said that people of all walks of life are buried here--nobility, the homeless and tramps. With the exception of a little corner, the cemetery has reverted back to crops. Possibly the monuments are buried as they are all gone but for one loner. However, the inscription is unreadable. If wooden crosses or markers were used they were destroyed by prairie fires or felled by the horse-drawn mowers.
These unknown graves, as in many cemeteries, can be anyone's guess; but our Maker has the records.
